Public Book Fair 12/4
New last year, we hosted a public sale. Since the book fair is only open to Lowell families during the school week, we decided to try out a hosted public fair the Sunday prior. It was such a great success we will do it again this year!
Something Everyone Looks Forward To
The annual book fair is something teachers, students and parents look forward to every year. The kids love it because Ms. Steim will work with each class during the first day or two of the fair and have the kids create a wish list of books they'd like. The kids will bring the lists home and Parents are able to come into the fair and purchase those books and many others (well I do at least) for gifts or just to add to their collections.
The teachers love it because they are able to fill a basket with books they'd like to add to their classroom collections. When parents or family or friends are checking out, they can browse through their teachers baskets. If they want to purchase a book, they simply add it to their pile, pay for the books, and have their child deliver it to their teacher!
The book fair is an amazing fundraiser and one that everyone in the Lowell benefits from. Teachers get books for their classrooms, children get new books to enjoy and Ms. Steim is able to continue to add to our amazing school library!
We Need Help To Make It A Success, Please Volunteer. Click Here.
This fair is no small endeavor, we need a lot of volunteers to make it a success. The more people we have, the quicker a lot of the setting up and breaking down goes. The work is not hard and it's certainly rewarding. So please take a look at the volunteer opportunities and consider helping so we can reach our sales goal of $14,000.
What Could I Volunteer For?
- We will need help spreading the word of the public sale, Sunday 12/4. Tell anyone you think would be interested in purchasing books, there are adult books, cook books, science kits, toys and more. This is not just a children's book sale.
- We will need help in setting up and dismantling this fair on 2 separate occasions: This is quick if we have enough people. The set up in the gym for the public sale will take place on 12/4 (the time now is tentative, but early so it can be done before any sporting commitments) and the same goes with breaking it down on 12/5 and setting it up in the library.
- We will need shift help for the Lowell Book Fair, all shifts occur after school and also some evenings.
- We will need some parents to stick around after Literacy Night to help us pack it up, again this goes very quickly with enough hands to help.
12/3: Set up of public book fair in Lowell Gym (tentatively 7-9am)
12/4: Public book fair, Lowell Gym (10-1)
12/4: Dismantle gym fair and set up library fair (1-3, end quicker with a lot of help, most of the work is transporting from gym to library)
12/5-12/9: Lowell only book fair in the library (many different shifts available and times, see below image)
12/9: Literacy Night (much more information to follow)
12/9: Lowell only book fair ends, need to pack it up (8:15-9:15pm)
